Welding Inspector (Structural/Piping)

Welding Inspector (Structural/Piping)

(Kuala Lumpur)

Responsibilities:

• Multiple positions available for Structural Inspectors, Piping Inspectors and Painting Inspectors
• Organise the Inspection operations defined under the approved inspection plan; ensures or requests the necessary means for proper implementation
• Follow up / Supervise/report the Inspection operations performed onshore and offshore, whether under the approved inspection plan or justified by an ad-hoc intervention.
• Ensure that facilities are fit for service and comply with the relevant regulation, company rules, technical codes and standard
• Liaise with team on day to day issues.
• Develop and recommended approval of structural procedures and applied fabrication methods, processes and techniques.
• Perform routine checks to ensure workmanship practices are uniform and consistent throughout all aspects of steel work fabrication, verification and testing.
• Review and comment on structural drawings and specifications.
• Verify and monitor the establishment of and adherence to company approved material tracking, void space closure, welding, NDE and punch list procedures.
• Verify witness and review status of welder and NDE technician qualifications.
• Understand the project schedule and be proactive in assessing activities that could impact the planning and progress.
• Perform local tolerance dimensional checks to verify as built dimensions.
• Review construction documentation for completeness and correctness.
• Review and verify final NDE results.
• Preparation of list of structural items for inclusion in final punch list.
• Document and communicate lessons learned in all above responsibilities.

Requirements:

• Candidate must possess recognized qualification (Cswip 3.2, PCN, Cofrend, ASNT or equivalent) in basic NDT techniques and welding inspection
• Must posses valid Sea Survival certificate.
• Good knowledge of metallurgy, and of corrosion/welding, and of Marine Certification requirement
• At least 8 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
• Preferably Junior Executives specializing in Engineering - Oil/Gas or equivalent.
