General Inspector - Malaysia

The responsibilities of General Inspector will include but are not limited to the following,

  • Interpret results of radiography and other NDT methods.
  • Monitor project welding quality.
  • Witness welding procedure qualification and welder performance tests.
  • Maintain records on test, evaluation and measurements.
  • Participate in the resolution of the quality problems as directed by QA Engineer.
  • Maintain records of works performed within assigned responsibility and ensure quality of material used, verify qualification of personnel performing the work, ensure approved methods are used, ensure advance warnings of possible problem areas of items is provided to the QA Engineer and verify that corrective actions including repair are taken. Keep the QA Engineer informed of the current quality status.
  • Areas of works may include:
    a) Tank and vessel fabrication and installation
    b) Pipe fabrication and assembly
    c) Piping alignment to equipment/machinery
    d) Installation of temporary strainers
    e) Installation of proper lubrications
    f) Cleanliness of lubrication system
    g) Machinery run-in
    h) Insulation application
    i) Orifice checking
    j) Surface preparation and coating
    k) Observance and enforcement of safe working practices.
  • Cooperate with and assist CONTRACTOR and others, where possible, in the achievement of quality goals.
  • Prepare schedules covering his works when required by project controls section.
  • Assist in preparation of field change notices, extra work orders and back charge notices when required.
  • Maintain records of use of approved procedures, rejections and corrective actions.
  • Ensure safety standards and requirements are observed and bring policy matters to attention of superiors.

Requirements General Inspector

  • Possess at least 6 years experience in oil & Gas facilities.
  • Experience at least 2 projects for Oil Company.
  • Familiar with construction methods, installation & testing of equipment, piping, pressure vessels and instrumentation systems.
  • Have qualifications of a welding inspector & piping/ mechanical inspector.
  • Diploma in any Engineering discipline.
  • Possess certified CSWIP 3.1 and/ or CSWIP 3.4, welding inspection & non-destructive testing.

Terms & Conditions General Inspector

  • Preferably male
  • Duration: 6 (six) months primary + 6 (six) months extension (option)
  • Resident in the Field.
